The following dressings can be recommended:

  • Traditional adhesive plasters €“ useful for minor cuts and grazes (examples: Savlon or Elastoplast plasters)
  • Spray plasters €“ useful for minor cuts and grazes (example: Savlon Spray Plaster)
  • Low adherent dressings €“ useful for cuts and grazes (example: Melolin)
  • Hydrocolloid dressings €“ useful for cuts (example: Compeed)
  • Skin closures €“ for deeper cuts. These should be used with caution on elderly people, who may have thin skin. If a customer has a deep wound, refer to the pharmacist as they may need medical attention
  • Impregnated gauze dressings €“ useful for burns (example: Jelonet)
  • Vapour permeable films €“ useful for cuts, grazes, burns and scalds (example: Opsite)
  • Adhesive tapes €“ useful for securing non-adhesive dressings (example: Micropore).
