Undecenoates

Zinc undecenoate and undecenoic acid have antifungal actions. Zinc undecenoate is also an astringent and helps to reduce the irritation and inflammation caused by fungal infections. Treatment should be continued for one week after the infection has cleared. Example: Mycota.

Amorolfine

Suitable for mild cases of fungal nail infection, amorolfine nail lacquer is a fungicidal agent that kills the fungus completely. It must be applied to the affected nail once weekly, until the nail has completely grown out. This can take up to six months for fingernails and nine to 12 months for toenails.

Amorolfine can only be used by customers over 18 years of age and for mild cases of nail infection affecting a maximum of two nails. Example: Curanail.

Acetic acid

This reduces the nail's pH to make the environment more hostile to fungal growth. Treatment should start as soon as symptoms appear. Example: Excilor.
