Minerals are nutrients that the body needs. We can't make them ourselves so we need to get them from the food we eat.

Minerals can be divided into two groups, depending on the amount we need to consume:

The first group is the major or 'essential' minerals, such as: calcium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and iron.

The second group is trace elements including: copper, fluoride, iodine, manganese, selenium and zinc.
