PSNC is reminding community pharmacy teams that from 4 December the gluten-free (GF) foods permitted on the NHS in England is restricted to bread and flour mixes only. If a patient presents a prescription for any restricted GF foods in December, they will need to be referred back to the prescriber to discuss suitable alternatives.

Celesio UK, parent company of LloydsPharmacy and AAH Pharmaceuticals has changed its name to McKesson UK after the company was bought by McKesson Corporation in 2014. The change was effective as of 26 November.

Some 55 per cent of UK wearable technology owners believe their devices have actually benefited their mental wellbeing, according to new research by Mintel. In addition, 72 per cent say their devices have helped improve their physical health, while 71 per cent say they exercise more often since buying their gadget.

One in five UK driving licence-holders have not had a vision check since reading a number plate at 20 metres when passing their driving test, according to a new survey by Vision Express. The survey also found that 52 per cent of drivers confess to not always wearing their glasses or contact lenses and 81 per cent fail to have an eye test every two years, as recommended.

A survey commissioned by Public Health England (PHE) has found that around nine in 10 people support the Government working with the food industry to make food healthier, with helping the NHS one of the main reasons for this support. PHE is now calling on the food industry to step up to the challenge of its sugar and calorie reduction programmes.
