Life's a pain for women

Women suffer from more aches and pains than men, suggests new research from Mintel.

Just six per cent of the women surveyed said that they had not experienced any type of pain over the past 12 months, compared to 16 per cent of men. What's more, a third of women had experienced five or more different types of pain in the last year versus just 27 per cent of men.

The survey also found that women endured more headaches and migraines than men (81 per cent compared with 68 per cent) as well as being slightly more likely to suffer from back pain. Jack Duckett, Mintel analyst, said: €Our research shows that women are notably more likely to experience most types of pain than men, as well as experience a greater range of pains. Whilst men are becoming more active in the home, women continue to take the lion's share of household responsibilities, putting them at a greater risk of back ache, not to mention menstrual cycles and pregnancy.€
