Boots UK has launched a new health check service aimed at people between the ages of 25 and 84 €“ a much wider age range than covered by the NHS Health Check. The new pharmacy-led Healthy Heart Service Check, which is being piloted in selected Boots pharmacies across London and the North East, involves a one-toone consultation with a specially trained Boots pharmacist with lifestyle questions and a cholesterol test. The assessment will calculate an individual's risk of developing cardiovascular disease in the next 10 years and offer tailored support to help them make healthy lifestyle changes.

Peter Bainbridge, director of pharmacy, Boots UK, said: €The new Healthy Heart Check Service demonstrates the potential of pharmacy in meeting the needs of people in the community who may not have access to certain NHS services.€ In addition to the service, Boots has launched an online tool €“ available at Boots.com/healthyheart €“ to enable customers to check their heart health from the comfort of their homes.
