Proud to be a quitter

The British Heart Foundation is encouraging pharmacy staff to use this year's No Smoking Day as an opportunity to increase patient participation by promoting resources and local support services. No Smoking Day will take place on 11 March, with smokers being encouraged to visit their GP, pharmacist or stop smoking adviser and stock up on quit aids in the run up to the awareness day. €Pharmacists educating smokers about the importance of stopping smoking, and about smoking cessation products and services available to them can lead to them giving up completely,€ says Howard Duff, Royal Pharmaceutical Society director for England.

€This in turn can improve their health and the health of others around them, save lives and ease pressure on the NHS.€ The theme of this year's campaign is 'proud to be a quitter', which showcases the inspirational stories of ex-smokers to highlight the benefits of quitting.
