Stay at home or soldier on?

Stay at home or soldier on?

It seems that how people manage a cold or flu is a contentious topic in the workplace, with participants of a new study by Potter's Herbals split over whether sufferers should stay at home to rest or go to work.

The survey found the workplace to be a significant source of infection with 25 per cent of the 1,000 participants saying they had caught a cold from work colleagues. Among the 74 per cent of the participants who worked, an average of two days each month had been taken off work due to a cold over the past six months.

Some 57 per cent of respondents thought that people suffering with a cold should stay at home to avoid infecting others and almost half (49 per cent) said that people should stay at home so as to get better more quickly. However, 34 per cent of participants said people should treat their symptoms and come to work regardless.
