Change4Life is encouraging children to get active for 10 minute bursts throughout the day as part of a new campaign with Disney.
The '10 minute shake up' campaign uses Disney characters to inspire kids to take part in several 10 minute intervals of moderate to vigorous activity each day, in order to get the 60 minutes of daily physical activity they need.
The launch coincides with the publication of an evidence review by the British Heart Foundation, which found that physical activity brings physical, social and emotional benefits to children. The researchers discovered that taking part in physical activity or sport could boost youngsters' social skills and self-esteem, leading to increased confidence, more friendships and improved academic performance.
Public health minister Jane Ellison said: €The 10 minute shake up programme is great for introducing children to manageable, bite-size chunks of activity €“ and, best of all, it's fun.€
