A national public health campaign will run across all community pharmacies in Wales throughout October to raise awareness of the role of the estimated 370,000 unpaid carers in Wales.
Organised by Wales' seven Health Boards, along with Community Pharmacy Wales, Public Health Wales and Carers Trust Wales, the 'Here for Carers / Yma i Ofalwyr' campaign will focus on the support and advice available for carers at community pharmacies, such as help ordering, collecting and administering medicines and free NHS flu vaccinations.
The campaign will be launched by minister for health and social care Professor Mark Drakeford on 8 October and will involve pharmacy visits from Assembly Members, press and local Carers Trust Wales partner groups. A bilingual leaflet and poster are available for pharmacies to display.
