Musson appointed national pharmacy technician fellow by GPhC and NHSE

Olivia Musson has been appointed as their new national pharmacy technician fellow by the General Pharmaceutical Council and NHS England.

This new fellowship post offers a one-year fixed term opportunity to work across the office of the chief pharmaceutical officer (NHS England) and the GPhC. It is the second fellowship to be provided, but the first that is jointly co-hosted by the GPhC and NHSE.

Olivia currently works as the service improvement manager within the pharmacy department at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. She also sits on the pharmacy leadership team where she is responsible for leading the dispensary and medicine management technician services across two hospital sites.

“I’m incredibly excited to be given this amazing opportunity to advocate for the pharmacy technician profession. Our role is more important than ever, and I look forward to being part of developing this,” she said.

Chief pharmacy officer at the GPhC, Roz Gittins, said: “We were very impressed with the high calibre of the candidates for this fellowship, but Olivia really stood out in terms of her knowledge, experience, skills and attitude. We are confident she will make a real contribution to our work, including ongoing work to develop new standards for the initial education and training of pharmacy technicians.”
