Based in a community of predominantly retired and older people, many of whom were self-isolating, the team at Bexhill-on-Sea’s Tesco In-store Pharmacy showed impressive proactivity, dedication and generosity in so many different ways during the Covid-19 pandemic

Having to organise a delivery service from scratch during such a pressurised and busy time is particularly commendable, and pharmacy manager Julie Tran, who nominated her team for the award, says the majority of this was done without being prompted. The team included grocery items with the deliveries, so all patients had access to everything they needed, and did additional hours to meet demand and ensure timely deliveries were made.

The judges were also impressed by the team’s “commitment to offering customers and patients extra support where needed”, whether that be regular phonecalls to those living alone, or linking up vulnerable people with local charities and organisations who could offer further help and assitance. The team recieved highly commended in the Covid-19 Heroes category.
