“I saw qualities in her during the interview that I believed would be invaluable for our pharmacy," says pharmacist manager Nima Rad
At the beginning of 2020, Emilia Urbańska was a supervisor in a coffee shop in Jersey. “Because of lockdown, we had to close, and I then had to leave to home school my daughter,” she explains. “I knew I wanted to do something else – something to help people and change my life.”
When a job at LloydsPharmacy in St Brelade came up, Emilia saw it as the perfect opportunity. And pharmacist manager Nima Rad, who interviewed her for the position and nominated her for the Rising Star Award, was impressed. She says: “I saw qualities in her during the interview that I believed would be invaluable for our pharmacy.”
Nima’s instinct was spot on. From day one, Emilia demonstrated motivation, generosity and compassion like no other. Driven by an innate desire to help people and with a passion for learning, she involves herself in all areas of the pharmacy from the dispensary to the shop floor and services.
“In my years of being a pharmacist, I have come across only a few people with her determination,” says Nima. “She will always put customers first and has dedicated time outside of work to help patients by collecting stock from other branches. She has made the world of difference to our branch.”
Mike Holden, RoE judge and associate director of Pharmacy Complete, says: “Emilia demonstrates an appetite to constantly improve herself and the care she provides to her patients. This passion is why she is a rising star.”
