For the past seven years, Sheena Sanhye has worked 50 hour weeks as a dispensing assistant at Honeypot Pharmacy in Harrow

“I contribute in all different areas,” she says. “It’s got to the point where even my boss says to me: ‘Why are you asking me? You’re the boss!’”

One of Sheena’s main responsibilities is taking note of the pricing of medicines and medication shortages. “I have very close contacts in pharmaceutical companies,” she explains. “Every three weeks, I’ll ring my main suppliers and ask them if there are any stock shortages and if prices will go up.

“I also attend trading shows to see the new over the counter products we could be stocking. We do themed displays in the pharmacy to push these products and I also try to keep an eye out for any new ones as I think it’s really important to make sure we’re giving our customers up to date stock.”

It’s this ownership of the retail space that really struck a chord with our judges. “Doesn’t every pharmacy need a Sheena!” says Reena Barai, independent contractor and pharmacist at S G Barai Pharmacy. “She clearly has passion and commitment for the business,” adds Emma Charlesworth, head of marketing operations at Phoenix Medical Supplies.
