Colic can be very distressing and exhausting for the baby and the parents. Parents may feel isolated, anxious and in need of support. If you haven’t experienced this, you may know someone who has. You could ask them about their experience.
If you don’t know anyone that can give you first-hand experience of colic in babies, imagine how it might affect a parent.
Consider the following:
- At what age might colic start?
- For how long might it last?
- What impact does colic have on a parent’s emotional wellbeing?
- How might their sleep be affected?
- What else would they be concerned about for the baby’s health?
- What other sources of support might they use?
- What specialist equipment or medical intervention might be of help?
