Accuracy checking training from CPPE

A new Accuracy checking pharmacy technician programme has been launched by the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE), as part of its growing portfolio of learning opportunities for pharmacy technicians.

Developed after CPPE secured a contract with Health Education England London and South East Pharmacy, the programme provides fully-funded accuracy checking training for pharmacy technicians in London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Pharmacy technicians who enroll on the programme will receive guided e-learning to provide the knowledge to perform the final accuracy check of dispensed medicines. Educational supervisors will support the pharmacy technician’s acquisition of skills through training and assessment of competence in the workplace.

Commenting on the programme, Samantha Quaye, CPPE’s lead pharmacy technician, said: “Undertaking final accuracy checks of dispensed items is a significant responsibility for all pharmacy professionals. CPPE’s accuracy checking pharmacy technician programme is designed to support pharmacy technicians, in both community and secondary care, to develop the skills and knowledge required to perform this task, as well as take on a leadership role in the dispensary.”
