Communicating with children

This bite-sized learning module considers the skills required to effectively communicate with children.

From toddlers to teens, pharmacies support and advise children of all ages on a variety of health concerns. But while communicating with children is similar to adults, there are additional factors to take into account to ensure you provide the service they both want and need.

Learning objectives

After studying this module, pharmacy staff should:

  • Be aware of the different skills involved communicating with children and how this differs to speaking to adults
  • Understand how to use these skills effectively in a consultation.
