Heroes in scrubs

Editor's comment July 2022.

Hello lovely readers! I hope you are all keeping cool and haven’t melted away in the summer heat. It’s been an extremely busy month here at TM and we are delighted to share with you both this copy of the July issue and our accompanying Recognition of Excellence (RoE) Awards supplement, that includes a roundup of the fabulous event we held on the 24 June.

You can learn about all our worthy winners in full and, I won’t go into too much detail here as you should read all about it in the supplement, but I just wanted to say how proud I am of every single one of our finalists and everyone who entered themselves or was nominated for the 2022 awards. Community pharmacy teams continue to blow us away with their hard work, dedication and the relationships they have with their communities. I do hope you enjoy reading about your colleagues from all over the UK and their achievements.

I think something that the RoE Awards teaches me, or reminds me of, every year is certainly that not all heroic actions necessarily involve jumping from a skyscraper to sweep an innocent passer-by from the path of an oncoming out of control high speed train. Heroic actions can be as something as simple as a conversation, an ‘is everything okay?’ Not all heroes wear capes, spider suits or carry shields, some just wear pharmacy scrubs. Take that, Marvel.
