Allergic conjunctivitis is caused by an allergy (e.g. to pollen, animal fur, smoke, pollution, etc).

What are the symptoms?

Both eyes develop symptoms at the same time, often accompanied by sneezing and a runny nose. Eyes may be watery and feel itchy, and there may be a stringy discharge.

What are the treatment options?

Allergic conjunctivitis can be treated with sodium cromoglicate eye drops. Example: Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops.

Antihistamine eye drops are also an option. Example: Otrivine Antistin.
