Helping customers to enjoy a healthy Christmas can include anything from giving advice on sensible drinking and eating to keeping active (for damage limitation) and warding off winter bugs. But it is also important to make sure your customers know when your pharmacy is open over the holiday period. You can also help them to think about their medicine and first aid cabinets and the remedies they may need – painkillers, indigestion remedies, cold and flu preparations, for example.

And don’t forget footcare. High heels may be a ‘must’ at parties, but they can create havoc for the feet. Make sure your pharmacy footcare displays are well stocked up and that you are confident in the information you can give to people with painful feet or, even better, to prevent them in the first place.

Your pharmacy should be a customer friendly place all year round, but during the festive season it’s particularly important to welcome people in so that they can get the best possible advice. Make sure yours is the pharmacy that customers want to visit when they’re feeling the need for advice over the Christmas season. You can probably also help them with their Christmas present lists! Those who are leading this team training will find accompanying learning prompts and teaching notes here.
