Amy Laflin takes on the position of APTUK president from 7 November 2025.

The Association for Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) have appointed their new president. Amy Laflin has taken up the post from November 2025 and was the sole nominee under the APTUK Standing Orders.

Before being appointed Amy was in the role of APTUK Interim President and Vice President, and prior to that, worked as Education Director and National Officer at APTUK. She has volunteered for the organisation since 2018. Amy has been a pharmacy technician for 13 years and currently works as Programme Lead for Pharmacy, Dental and Science within the West Suffolk College.

“It is with heartfelt gratitude and immense pride that I share the news of my appointment as President of APTUK, following the recent nomination process. I am truly honoured to have been entrusted with this role and to continue serving our vibrant and dedicated community of pharmacy technicians,” said Amy.

“Having served as Interim President over the past five months, I have witnessed the strength and passion within our community and profession, and I look forward to continuing to lead with purpose, ensuring our profession remains visible, valued, and equipped to deliver exceptional care.”

The term of office for the role is a period of two years from November 2025 to November 2027. The role bears significant responsibility, including being the face of the organisation whilst working closely with the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other stakeholders to establish long-term goals that uphold the best interests for the pharmacy technician profession.

We are looking forward to continuing to work closely with Amy as she is officially appointed as President of APTUK. This is a critical time for pharmacy technicians as the profession undergoes significant evolution and Amy’s dedication to APTUK, and the profession is unrivalled,” said a statement by the Board of Directors.

“Amy has been strong and supportive both as vice president and in recent months, interim president. She advocates tirelessly for the pharmacy technician profession and has shown strong leadership even in challenging situations, always remaining professional. Amy is experienced, knowledgeable of APTUK vision and standards and demonstrates strength in her values and vision to lead APTUK.”

“I am dedicated to supporting both the APTUK executive team and the APTUK members, working together to build a bright future for pharmacy technicians across the UK,” said Amy.
