With less than half (48 per cent) of UK adults aware that poor oral hygiene can contribute to a range of long-term health conditions, oral hygiene brand TePe has launched a consumer education campaign.
The “Behind Your Smile” campaign is offering a downloadable toolkit full of information about good oral health and its link to conditions like heart disease, diabetes, digestive health, arthritis, and mouth cancer.
“With periodontitis linked to many other conditions in the body, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease, it’s vital that patients understand how to keep gum disease at bay,” said Amanda Sheehan, dental therapist and clinical support specialist at TePe. “Through the Behind Your Smile campaign, we hope to inform consumers about good oral health and inspire them to adopt better oral care routines at home, including cleaning between the teeth daily with interdental brushes, floss or dental tape.”
