Record learning outcomes
Until just over a year ago, Eden worked at a GP surgery in Rugeley, Staffordshire, managing appointments and prescriptions
However, she had built up such a good working relationship with the LloydsPharmacy branch next door that the manager asked her to consider joining their team. Delighted that she made the move, Eden says: “I am really enjoying my job. I feel that I have really grown and can give back to the community with good service.”
Part of this commitment to her community has seen Eden get involved with charity awareness days and deliver medication during her lunchbreak. She has achieved the level 2 qualified dispenser course and is enrolling on a pharmacy technician course. “I am looking forward to learning more,” she says. “As a team, we try to deal with every customer and patient’s needs. My personal edict is to give the best of knowledge, skills and attitude in everything I do at work.”
Pharmacy manager Claire Cooper, who nominated Eden for the Rising Star Award, says: “She is better skilled than some long-term pharmacy technicians I have worked with in the past. She cares so much about every patient and always goes out of her way to help anyone who needs it.”
The judges were drawn to Eden’s caring nature and commitment to her new career and awarded her highly commended in the Rising Star category. APTUK president Liz Fidler highlighted her “ambition, initiative and patient care”.
