Wedding planning and pharmacy are worlds apart, but for Rachel Chrost, the move four years ago was relatively seamless.
Her organisational strengths have been a real asset to Weldricks Pharmacy on Frodingham Road in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.
However, her modesty is obvious, particularly when asked how she has gone ‘above and beyond’ to care for customers. "I asked my team because I couldn’t think of a time," she says. "And they said I do it every day. If someone comes in with a problem, whether I have to spend three hours or three days sorting it, I do. But I don’t see that as anything out of the ordinary."
It was actually a customer who nominated Rachel for the Customer Care Award after Rachel sorted things out when she experienced issues with doctors not communicating about her medication. "I can’t believe she nominated me!" says Rachel. But this customer is just one person of many who believes Rachel – who was injured in a car accident not long ago and has had corrective surgery postponed because of the pandemic – really does go above and beyond. "Rachel battles through every day throughout her own pain, and always does it with a smile," their nomination says.
Commending Rachel for her work, RoE judge Victoria Steele, superintendent pharmacist at LloydsPharmacy, says she "clearly puts others’ needs firmly before her own."
