Ears are quite remarkable organs that are able to recognise no fewer than 400,000 different sounds and relay them to a memory bank in the brain.

Our ears never stop working. They are constantly busy, detecting and analysing sounds, even when we are asleep. As well as enabling us to hear, our ears also control our balance. This is why a customer with an ear problem may also feel unsteady on their feet.

Objectives

This module will tell you how to:

  • Recognise the possible causes and symptoms of ear problems
  • Recommend the most appropriate treatment
  • Know when to refer to the pharmacist.
